The Val Badia is a valley that is home to a Ladin community which, still to our days, maintains many of its original traditions.

Its people are distributed in five small towns that lie at the foot of the beautiful Dolomite peaks, the perfect setting for a fairy tale ! The visitor is dazzled by the incredible beauty of these mountains.

The challenge of the rugged peaks, contrasting with the peace of endless green spaces, provides the ideal place to escape from the stress of any busy life.

Discovering the hospitality of the local people and the many services available to the tourist, are welcome surprises which will surely be much appreciated.

One such example is the 700 km of ski slopes of the Sella Ronda (the biggest European ski circuit !) with its sky lifts and refuges.

The refuges not only provide shelter to the weary skier, but are also meeting points for athletes at the end of the day, to relax and have fun with dancing: a good vintage wine may also add to the enjoyment.

 

Culture and tastes

The wine and food culture is in fact another of the many attractions that this valley offers to tourists.

In Pedraces, an old Ladin Farm House offers traditional rustic menus full of Ladin specialities.

In Corvara you can find the most important Reserve Italian Sassicaia wine, whilst in San Cassiano you will find three Michelin starred restaurants which are internationally recognised as the mouthpiece of the culture of Taste.

This international character applies to every aspect of tourism, and is interpreted by the Ladin population with a single word: hospitality.

Bringing their culture and identity to those who spend their vacations in these places, makes guests learning to love these places, to observe their rhythms of life and traditions.

If therefore sport, culinary tradition and fun do make Alta Badia one of the most coveted and prestigious place in the world, its uniquiness lies in the ability to have turned “international” without losing its unique character, its own identity of a small village nestled in an all round peaceful ambiance, never forgetting that the real asset is always her nature, with its rocky mountains that turn pink at sunset and with its lush forests and inimitable landscapes.
